KKL & Co. has spent the last decade teaching managers the craft of leadership (building on founder Kimberly Kleiman-Lee’s 20 years before that). Like many firms, we ran 2–3 day workshops—high energy in the room, but once the binders closed, real change stalled. Clients and their managers deserved better.

Paying homage to our mascot, the office chair, SWIVEL offers smaller, action-ready learning doses, in a supportive community, with live group coaching and dozens of downloadable tools that turn good intentions into measurable results. Managers learn to prioritize their learning, be accountable for their own skill growth, and demonstrate new found confidence as a result.

KKL & Co. have been trusted partners in our leadership development journey for nearly four years. When Kimberly introduced us to the Swivel concept and proposed piloting the program with 25 of our people leaders, it was an easy “yes.” Halfway through the 12-week Swivel pilot, we knew we’d found something special — we expanded immediately, purchasing 100 additional seats.

Swivel ARMCHAIR COACH

The Armchair Coach (affectionally known as the "AC") is a leader from your organization who is ultimately responsible for curating the Swivel learning experience. This is the true benefit to bringing Swivel "in house". Your AC knows your org and will guide managers in Swivel apply the learning in ways that support internal expectations and guidelines.

Once the details of your in-person workshop are confirmed and you select your participants, the AC’s job begins. Their job is to facilitate the 12-week Swivel Series. All-in, your AC will be Swiveling for 3 hrs per week for 12 weeks.

ACs ultimately create the supportive, engaged, and trusted community you want in a development effort like Swivel.

ARMCHAIR COACH TRAINING

Nervous about the certification process? No need, my friends! Your ACs will be taken in under our proverbial wings! Here's how:

  • An assigned Swivel sAC (...senior AC) will reach out to greet and orient them to the Swivel system...and stays their primary contact during the 12 week Swivel series.
  • The AC Kit arrives at their door ...cue the confetti!
  • The AC Workbook outlines the weekly Swivel Community Calls with speaker scripts, notes, slide decks & more.
  • The AC and sAC review expectations, weekly content, and potential learner scenarios until comfort sets in. We ain't goin' anywhere.
A Successful ARMCHAIR COACH

Bottom line... ACs set the tone, create the vibe, and bring Swivel to life with the context of your organization in mind.

Who should receive this distinguished honor?

Well, of course, an AC could be an HR Business Partner or an in-house trainer (...obvious picks). But we would highly recommend inviting a top-notch manager gifted at communicating and engaging others to be your chosen one. Why not give an unsuspecting field leader a little development opportunity of their own?? Now you've created a learning opportunity for the AC and the participants they work with ( ...how very meta of you!)

We set them up for success but their personal stories and journeys are what really bring the conversations to life. Below are a few considerations as you select your in-house wunderkin (er...Armchair Coach).

BECOME A Swivel ARMCHAIR COACH

This isn’t your Mom’s training certification program. Oh noooooooo. It takes a village to raise great leaders and we encourage you to select your best leaders for the AC honor! Find a Fantastic Foreman, a Super Supervisor, or Leader Among Leaders to facilitate your Swivel Community Calls filled with impressionable managers. They don’t need to memorize curriculum sequencing, complicated activities, or human neuroscience. Our AC Certification program sets them up for success a few pages at a time. They facilitate one 90-minute call each week for 12 weeks... all while conquering their day job!

ARMCHAIR COACH RESPONSIBILITES

  • Organizes the Swivel experience... calendar of events, customized content, etc.
  • Communicates with Swivel Learners ... deadlines, summaries, recording postings, etc.
  • Facilitates the weekly Community Calls ... with the approach taught during their AC Certification.
  • Engages the Swivel Community ... by facilitating, coaching, and guiding learners

ARMCHAIR COACH RESOURCES

Success as a Swivel Armchair Coach is mostly dependent on the ability to sufficiently prepare for each Community Call. The following materials will contribute to your success as an AC:

  • Learner Workbook - Learn one. Teach one. The AC will be one step ahead of the learners during Swivel.
  • Swivel Learner Portal - The AC has full access to all Swivel Modules and Lessons.
  • Armchair Coach Guide - The schedule, scripts, and activities supporting each 90-minute Community Call are clearly outlined.
  • AC PowerPoint slides - 2-3 PowerPoint slides guide each 90-minute Community Call.
Swivel 12-WEEK COMMUNITY SERIES

Community Calls bring Swivel learners together to explore each module in greater depth. Facilitated by Kimberly Kleiman-Lee, these interactive Zoom sessions help learners translate insights into action within their own organizations.

THE Swivel ASSESSMENT

The Swivel Manager Assessment is both a self and 360 assessment that evaluates managers in 6 Essential Domains. Swivel Summary Reports highlight strengths, areas for development, and align development recommendations to Swivel lessons, downloadable tools, and other resources.
